Player Evaluation
UPDATE:
Brian had a very strong 2013 season as a starter for Thomas Dale, Brian batted .355 for the season. Brian showed his explosive speed on the base paths and great footwork on the field. In addition to his high accomplishments on the field, Brian showed great leadership off the field as he accomplished Eagle Scout honors, attended the 2013 American Legion VA Boys States, participated in the Chesterfield County Student Leadership Institute, and maintained a 3.6 GPA in honors courses.
On and off the field, Brian is one of the hardest working players to ever come through our program. As an up the middle type player Brian’s overall strength and explosive quickness serve him well.
DEFENSE: Goodwyn is an aggressive player and not afraid to dive for a ball and his uniform is typically filthy. He has great range at second base as well as in the outfield. Brian was a Second Team All Central District selection as an outfielder.
OFFENSE: Goodwyn has significant experience at the top of the order and understands the responsibilities of a leadoff hitter. He has the strength to drive the ball in the gap and the patience to take a walk... both of which happen frequently. A sound base runner with excellent speed, Brian reads pitchers well taking advantage of all opportunities to advance 90 feet.
